Tony Don’t Let Jessica Decorate Your New House!!!

Of all of the things I’d let Jessica Simpson help me with, decorating my new house isn’t one of them. According to TMZ, Jessica will help Tony dress up his new pad. Five-bedrooms, 5,551 square feet , a pool, and a spa.

Dude, hire someone to make it the castle of bachelor pads. Throw a few pictures of you and Jess around the kitchen, add an air hockey table, maybe a dart board and beer tap, and be done with it.

Mike Sherman You Lost To Arkansas St.

Wow. Of all the upsets on Saturday, it’s Texas A&M’s 18-14  loss to Arkansas St. that shocks me most. What’s even more puzzling, it’s gettin ZERO national attention. Probably a good thing for new head coach Mike Sherman. This loss for a program like A&M is inexcusable. It’s the first time Arkansas St. has beaten a Big-12 team in 15 games. It also snaps a 20-game winning streak in home opener’s for A&M. The Sherman hire was less than stellar to begin with. And I’m sure the passionate Aggie fan based wasn’t thrilled then. Imagine how many FOR SALE signs are being dusted off today to be staked in Sherman’s lawn. It’s going to be a long season in Aggieland.

It Was Fun While It Lasted

It was cut day in the NFL Saturday, and the Cowboys cut their roster to the 53-man limit. And thanks to HBO’s Hard Knocks, we all knew who Todd Lowber, Danny Amendola, and Keon Lattimore were. Unfortunately for them, being a household name on an HBO series does not make you an NFL player.

I will say this about the trio: they handled being the team’s mascot pretty well. All of them know what Hard Knocks is all about, and all of them took everything in stride. Of the three that were cut, Keon Lattimore has the best chance of being an NFL player. It remains to be seen which ones will be resigned to the practice squad.

More Mandeville & Gustav

Mandeville HS Principal Bruce Bundy has released a statement explaining why the school won’t be playing on Monday at Texas Stadium.  I believe everyone can understand their reasoning but follow the jump to read the statement.

Gustav Blows Away Kirk Herbstreit

We got a call tonight from the people putting on this weekends Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football Series.  That is a series of football games between teams from Texas, Ohio and other states.  Texas Stadium will host seven games over the weekend.

One of the games scheduled is Klein Oak from Spring, TX playing against Mandeville HS from Mandeville Louisiana.  This afternoon the principal from Mandeville informed the football team that their trip to Dallas has been called off due to hurricane Gustav.  Needless to say both the Mandeville team and the Klein Oak team is upset about this turn of events.

The promoters of the Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football Series are desperately trying to find a football team that would be willing to play Klein Oak on Monday at Texas Stadium.  If you’re a high school football coach and would like to play the game please email Dan Jones, Vice President of Events at djones@intersportnet.com.  It may be short notice, but your students and the students from Klein Oak will remember this game forever.

Hello High School Football

Okay so I lied, high school football is actually my favorite. It’s really the purest form of the sport. Kind of, now that ESPN and Rivals have corrupted the kids we may have to start covering Pop Warner. I digress, tonight is the first “Big Game Friday”, we’ll be live at Plano for their game against Irving Macarthur. Plano is nationally ranked, so they have plenty to prove.

Be sure to watch NBC5 at 4pm, 5pm. 6pm, and 10pm for all of your “Big Game Friday” coverage. I finally get to taste a little Texas high school football!

This Could Hurd The Cowboys

When Sam Hurd went down with a high ankle sprain, I’m sure you could hear Jerry Jones scream in his private box. This is a team already thin at receiver with injuries to Isiah Stanback and Miles Austin. So a lot hinges on those MRI results coming back today. Including the careers of Danny Amendola and Mike Jefferson. One certainly has a chance of making the team because of the banged up WR corp. It will be interesting to see what Jones does next:

  • Grab a WR off the waiver wire?
  • Make Arizona a trade they can’t refuse for Anquan Boldin?
  • Terry Glenn anyone?

Stay tuned…..

Good For Adam

Say what you will about Adam “Pacman” Jones, but he did all of the right things to get back in the NFL. For the record, he was never arrested. Sure, he wasn’t the greatest citizen on the planet, but he never served time. Since arriving in Dallas he’s kept himself out of trouble. In fact, I find him more amusing than most of the players on the team. He’s handled the media well, since joining the Cowboys and has always said the right things. He hasn’t played football in 20-months, and will immediately make Cowboys better.

Now, it remains to be seen how he handles us, and the responsibility of being an active NFL player again. But until he proves he can’t handle a second chance I say congratulations to him. Hopefully he’s learned from his past. Everyone deserves a do over.

It’s Like Christmas Eve

It doesn’t get any better than this. We’re on the eve of college football and two-days away from high school football. I keep hearing drumlines playing in my head. There’s even a different smell in the air. The anticipation has been building now for months, and it’s finally here. I really feel like a kid on Christmas eve, which is great because I get presents for the next five-days. And just when the weekend’s over, we get NFL the following week. I’ve had my fantasy football drafts, read all of the magazines and we’re just  24-hours away from kickoff.

What to look forward too:

Thursday: Cowboys vs Vikings (kind of), Baylor vs Wake Forest, other college games.

Friday: Big Game Friday, “Tampa Bay or Bust” Cowboys preseason special 7pm (NBC5)

Saturday: Full slate of college football action.

Twas the night before football……
